un chistera. a chistera. In the Basque sport of jai alai, the chistera is a wicker glove used to hurl the ball at high speed towards the wall. In jai alai, the player winds up his throw by holding the chistera behind his back. In rugby, the player winds up the defender by slipping a pass behind his back.
